Special Ministers of the Eucharist

When the ministry was established, it was intended that 'teams' would be renewed every few years. Three years was mentioned at the time. I doubt if this has been strictly adhered to in any parish.

Recently, some of our present ministers of the Eucharist suggested that we put out a call for new volunteers. So, if you are reading this, you might consider coming on to the team. There is a short training time, probably just one evening. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to be of assistance in the parish in this area or indeed any other area, e.g. reader, choir, altar society, steward, etc.

Christmas Offerings, Weekly Envelopes, Parish Calendar

These should have reached you by now. If not, they are on the way. I want to offer my sincere thanks to all our collectors and to the parish secretary who put the packages together.

Please note the box of weekly envelopes also contains what were previously 'second collections' but which we have abandoned, partly because your priest is not happy about this method. You have been very generous and cooperative in anything I have attempted in the past few years, for which I thank you most sincerely. And, since the weekly envelope was introduced twelve months ago, without being asked, most people seem to have increased their contribution at Sunday Mass.

The former 'second collections' are on specific Sundays but, if possible, please include a little extra for the particular cause. These envelopes are a different colour to the normal Sunday collection envelopes.

I wish to thank Ronan Hennigan [Centra] for generously sponsoring our parish calendar and I ask you to support his business in the village.
