Bishops' Pastoral Letter

The Irish Bishops, this week, have published a pastoral letter on the tragic subject of Child Sexual Abuse. In this letter ["Towards Healing – A Lenten Reflection"], the bishops reflect on their own experiences of this painful issue. They speak of the mistakes they themselves have made, and what they have learned over the years. They do so in the hope that their response may be more sensitive and healing in the future.

They also hope that the wider Irish society may begin to accept that child abuse is not just an issue for the Church, but is a serious issue throughout our society, and needs to be treated as such.

The letter is available in the church porch.
