Congratulations

Congratulations to the 37 girls and boys who received the Sacrament of Confirmation here, last Wednesday. Our congratulations go, also, to their parents, and, in a special way, their teachers, for all their dedication in preparing them for this very special day in their young lives.

Our thanks, also, to Srs. Máire and Joanna for all their help in preparing children for the Sacraments in both schools. The young children, "upstairs", in the choir and their soloist at the Mass were all brilliant. A very special thanks to their teachers.

World Youth Day Pilgrimage, 2005

Cologne, August 15-22

Pope John Paul II: "The Church has much to say to young people, and they have much to say to the Church. This mutual dialogue must be open-hearted, clear and courageous. It fosters encounter and exchange between the generations and becomes a source of wealth and youth for the Church and society".

The new Pope, Benedict XVI, will attend World Youth Day.

Month's Mind Mass for John Paul II

Mass will be celebrated in Clarinbridge church on Monday evening, 9 May, at 8:00 pm, to commemorate the life of John Paul II and to commend him to God. A special liturgy is being prepared for the occasion, which will include members of the Polish community who have come to live among us in Clarinbridge. Please try to keep this time free to attend the Mass, if at all possible. More details next weekend.

Parish Night Out

A sincere thanks to everyone who supported this venture: The Oyster Manor Hotel, The Oyster Boys, all who gave sponsorship and spot prizes. Many thanks to Pat Greene and his adjutants who walked the roads and knocked on doors to sell tickets – Evelyn Walsh, Ann-Marie Ellis, Eddie O'Hara and Michael Fleming.

€1,100 has been added to church funds – thanks to those who came out on the night, and, also, to those who could not come, but supported it financially. Many thanks, everybody.

– E.D.
