Second Collection

There will be a second collection at Masses next Sunday, 5 June, to help bring sick people to Lourdes on the Diocesan Pilgrimage in July. Usually, there is at least one person from each parish in the Diocese.

Quest Brain-Injury Services

Quest Brain-Injury Services provide training and support for individuals who have sustained an injury. Acquired brain-injury can result from:

  • traumatic injury, e.g. a traffic or workplace accident, such as a fall, an assault, or a sports injury
  • damage to the brain tissue following a stroke [through haemorrhage or aneurysm], brain surgery, or a brain tumour
  • a viral infection, e.g. encephalitis
  • lack of oxygen to the brain, e.g. as a result of a heart attack.

Coffee Morning

A coffee morning will be hosted at Mary O'Neill's "Fairyhouse Playschool" on Friday, 3 June, at 10:00 am, and, a mini marathon on bank holiday Monday, 6 June, with proceeds in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation. All are welcome. For further information, contact 796346.

2005 Oyster Festival Queen Nominations

Sixth Annual Walk in aid of Breast Cancer Screening

This year's annual walk takes place on bank holiday Monday, 6 June, from Ardrahan to Gort, setting out at noon. A bus will leave 'SuperValu', Market Hall, at 11:00 am, to take participants to Ardrahan. Guest speaker: Dr. Irene Sweeney. Special guest: Rory Gantley. Refreshments being served at John Higgins' 'SuperValu' for everyone at the end of the walk.

Colga FC News

* Mini World Cup

The annual Colga 'Mini World Cup' will take place on Sunday, 12 June, at Colga soccer pitch, starting at 12:30 pm, sharp. The competition will be a blitz format, catering for boys and girls in two different age groups: 7-9 and 10-13 years old. Teams will be picked on the day. Only players who are present at 12:30 will be picked to play in this competition. Free barbeque, refreshments and snacks will be available in the marquee. This is a really fun day for all the family.


* Promotion for the Juniors

Congratulations to the Colga Junior Team on their recent victory in the Western Hygiene, Division 2A Promotion play-off. They overcame Tuam Celtic by one goal to nil in a nail-biting encounter at West Park. The result means that the juniors will be playing in the first division next season.


* Colga/Everton Soccer School, 2005: 4-8 and 11-15 July

All 200 places have now been taken up. Plans are being put in place for a very eventful two weeks. Please ensure that full payment is forwarded to your child's coach immediately. Enquiries to Paul Phillips, at 087-2536481. The remaining balance for those who have paid their deposits is €65.
