"Suaimhneas"

January-June, 2005

I wish to offer my sincere thanks to all who have made a contribution to the "Suaimhneas" fund in the past six months.

It is, however, extremely disappointing that 283 households have not made any contribution whatsoever.

In my opinion, it is unreasonable to expect the same, genuine people to have to always foot the bill for facilities available to the whole community.

Sympathy

As a community, we offer sincere sympathy to the following on their recent bereavements:

  • Anita Hawkins, Dunkellin, on the death of her husband, Fintan
  • Séamus Francis, Moyvilla, on the death of his sister, Sheila
  • Louis Hanly, Stradbally North, on the death of his sister, Maureen, Surrey
  • Cissie Connolly, Clarinbridge, on the death of her brother, Paddy Carr, Dublin.

Death is not extinguishing the light, but putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.

Colga FC News

* Colga/Everton Soccer School: 4-8 and 11-15 July

For the second year running, top-class coaches are coming to Clarinbridge, from Everton Football Club, to teach soccer skills to children from Colga. A total of 200 children will participate over a two-week period. Morning sessions will start at 9:15 am, and afternoon sessions at 1:15 pm, at the astroturf, in Oranmore.

A total of eight UEFA-accredited coaches will be involved, many of whom are coming for their second visit, having enjoyed last year's camp so much.

Please feel free to stop off at Oranmore and have a look at the soccer school in action. Those of you who have children attending should remember that, on the Friday evening of each week, there will be a party [from 7:30 to 10:00 pm] in the Clarinbridge Court Hotel, with a presentation of certificates and awards.
