Clarinbridge Community Arts Festival

Following an award of €600 – by Galway County Council – to CCDA Arts and Culture Sub-Committee, a meeting will be held on Tuesday, 19 July, at the Oyster Manor Hotel, at 9:00 pm. Everyone welcome to attend, with their support and ideas on how we can put a programme together, representing the interests of the community.

Summer Barbeque

The Summer Barbeque takes place on Sunday, 24 July, at Paddy Burke's, at 7:30 pm, with live music by 'Perfect Strangers'.

Food will be served between 7:30 and 9:30 pm. Tickets [at €20] are available from Paddy Burke's and Post Office. All proceeds will go towards the continued development of our community.

Second Collection

Episcopal Hierarchy Commissions, 23/24 July

Following on Vatican II, the Bishops of Ireland found it necessary to set up a number of Commissions to help meet the needs of the present-day Irish Church, e.g. Catechetics, Clergy/Seminaries/Vocations, Communications, Doctrine, Ecumenism, Education, Emigrants, Justice and Peace, Laity, Liturgy, Missions, Pastoral, Press and Information, Research and Development, Religious, Social Welfare.

Each diocese is levied for the annual running expenses of these Commissions, and it is in an effort to meet this levy that this collection is being taken up.

Next Wednesday evening, 20 July, at 8:00 pm, in Roveagh [weather permitting].

Sponsored Walk

Help people with an intellectual disability – join the great "Yeats Country, 35km Sponsored Walk" in Sligo, in October, over a three-day period, at your own pace. Make new friends along the way. Hotel accommodation and food provided.

*  Hurling Update

All hurling teams doing excellently this year. Well done!

The senior, intermediate and U-16 minors are all in the quarter-finals. The U-12 team is in the County Final and the City League, and have won the Guillane Final.

*  Hurling/Camogie Summer Camp

*  'Big Band' Night

The 'Big Band' Night takes place as one of the several events of the Clarinbridge Oyster Festival, in the festival marquee, on Friday, 2 September, in association with Clarinbridge GAA. A wonderful night's entertainment in store with 'The American Drifters', 'Macnas', and many more. Tickets are available from all club members and team managers.
