World Youth Day, 2005 The Galway Diocesan Group preparing to travel to the upcoming World Youth Day celebrations, in Cologne, have been chosen for a unique privilege to accompany the Pope on a boat-trip on the River Rhine, through the city of Cologne. The WYD week-long event [15-22 August] will be the Pope's first international engagement. What an amazing offer, to experience this historic event almost through the eyes of the Holy Father himself! With less than a month to WYD, our group still has twenty places available, but fast, decisive action is needed, since extra security information is needed for each person on the special boat-trip. New group members must be over eighteen, as the whole programme is geared towards young adults. We depend on your prayerful support for the success of this project, but, you can help defray the cost for the young people themselves. Any contribution you might wish to make would be most gratefully received. The trip costs €705, but with the Diocesan supplement available to each young person at €450. After all, maybe it's time we stopped just talking about the lack of young people at Mass and began encouraging those who do attend. Enquiries to Fr. Frankie Lee, at 086-8308865, or to Helena [in Fahy Travel], at [091]-594747. |

July Saints 24 July: Saint Declan considered to be one of the pre-Patrician Saints. He was of noble blood. Colm, a local priest, baptised him. Later, he went to Europe to continue his studies, where he was ordained priest, and, possibly, bishop. He settled in Ardmore and evangelised the [what?] country. |

Colga FC News
For the second year running, UEFA-accredited football coaches have come from Everton Football Club to run a soccer school for children from the Clarinbridge area. The links between Everton and Colga FC continue to grow, with over 200 children participating in intensive training over the first two weeks of July. The quality of coaching given was inspiring, particularly from Mo Marley, who coaches the Everton Senior Ladies' Team and the England U-19 Ladies' Team. The children reaped great benefits from the training and had a lot of fun along the way. The feedback from the coaches was very positive, also they were very impressed with the skills, attitude and discipline of the children. And, who knows maybe the next 'Kilbane' might come from Colga?!! |

It would be appreciated ... ... if you would kindly leave the church as you found it especially if you would not leave paper tissues after you, to be collected by others. Thank you. |
