Autumn Offerings Many thanks, all who sent in Autumn Offerings. Thanks to all the people who called for, and later distributed, the envelopes. If you did not get an envelope and wish to make a contribution, you can pick up one in the church porch. |

Harvest Festival Mass The Arts and Culture Sub-Committee of the Clarinbridge Community Development Association would like to express their grateful appreciation to Karen Coolahan for the wonderful music provided at last Sunday's harvest Mass, and, to Fr. Dermody for giving us the opportunity of celebrating the Mass as part of our festival. We have had many calls, telling us how much people enjoyed the music and harvest presentation. We would also like to thank the Clarinbridge Youth Choir, Alan Coolahan, Noel McFadden, Úna Flanagan, John Flanagan, Paddy Costello, Marion McCarthy and Johnny Giles. In addition, we would like to thank all those who organised the harvest offering: Sr. Máire, Sr. Joanna; to all the readers; to all those who assisted in the Mass; and, the GAA for allowing us to present Galway's All-Ireland Minor Hurling cup, and the Clarinbridge NS Football cup. The generosity of contributions by those who availed of refreshments in "Suaimhneas", afterwards, knocked a further €431 off the "Suaimhneas" debt. Thank you. Joan Coen, Clare Griffin and Anne Fox PS: 'Voices and Strings' takes place on Sunday, 9 October, in Clarinbridge church, at 4:00 pm, with performances by Ricardo Garcia Curbelo [harp], Michelle Mulcahy [harp], the Clarinbridge Choral Group, and, the Howley-Harte Quartet. Also, readings by John Quinn [RTÉ]. Tickets available at the door, at €10. |

The Rosary The First Mystery of Light: Christ's Baptism in the Jordan This mystery of the Rosary is related in Mark's gospel, chapter one. The Spirit descended like a dove on him, and a voice from heaven, "You are my son, the beloved, and with you I am well pleased". People who go on pilgrimage to the Holy Land usually re-enact this scene on a visit to the River Jordan. There is a picture of Christ's baptism, by John, beside the Baptismal font in Clarinbridge church. |

Receiving Holy Communion Please note that, if you receive Communion on the hand, you should receive the Host before you return to your seat. Young children should receive Communion on the tongue, as a general rule. Last weekend, a consecrated Host was found in the holy water font, at the back of Clarinbridge church. We now have Coeliac Hosts available for those who cannot receive the standard ones. Communion can also be received from the chalice, if the priest is informed before Mass. E.D. |

Just for Today Just for today, I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, keep my voice low, act courteously, refrain from criticising and fault-finding. I will not try to improve or regulate anybody but myself. |
|
Many thanks, again, for your continued support. |
