Mission Sunday, 2005

Mission Sunday is a day set aside for Catholics worldwide – to recommit themselves to the Church's missionary activity, through prayer and sacrifice.

Some €2.3 million was donated by the generous people of Ireland during Mission Sunday last year. This money was used to fund a range of projects in Mission Dioceses, and among Missionaries in fourteen countries in Africa and Asia.

The people of Galway Diocese contributed €42,144 to the Mission collection last year. This was an increase of 38.7% on 2003.

Please bring something to next Sunday's second collection to help those in the less developed parts of our world. Galway's dual player, Alan Kerins, will speak at Masses next Sunday about his voluntary work in Africa last year.

'Voices and Strings'

Thank you, all who were involved in the recent Arts Week. It took a lot of effort in the preparation and execution. Well done. We look forward to 2006!

Church Radio

The system is now on the FM bandwave. You will find it at 106.2, on any ordinary radio. Reception should be vastly improved.

Vocations

I would like to thank everybody for their support and good wishes over the past few weeks.

Thanks to those who organised a special Mass for me; to Fr. Dermody and Fr. Keane for celebrating Mass; to the choir, readers, servers, and all those who attended. Thanks, also, to those who sent Mass-cards.

The money I have received will be given into the Poor Clares, and prayers will be offered for your intentions.

– Marie Linnane

Good Wishes

The community of Clarinbridge-Roveagh sends our good wishes and prayers to Marie Linnane, Stradbally North, as she enters the Poor Clare Community, Galway.

We are proud of you and we feel honoured and privileged to have one of our own in that great power-house of prayers, in Nuns' Island.

We will remember you in our prayers: please remember us.

Just for today, I will have a quiet half-hour, all by myself, and relax.
